Welcome Back!

20th Apr 2020

Good afternoon everyone

Lots of technical difficulties this morning with our school website. Hopefully they will be sorted soon and access will return.

I hope you all are well and enjoyed Easter. I still have some Easter eggs left in my house, do you?

We are now into our last term of the school year. There has certainly never been a school year like this one! We have all had to adjust and get used to a very different way of life. It seems that it will continue like this for the foreseeable future.

On Newsdesk today the headline story is about Captain Tom Moore. You may have seen him on the news over the last week or so. 99 years old, Capt Tom decided he would raise some money for the NHS by doing a sponsored walk in his garden. He wanted to raise £1,000 and has so far raised over £22 million! Very inspiring. He has also said that we should, “Do what we need to do, better days lie ahead.” A very good phrase for us all to think about as we enter what seems like the sixth month of staying at home. It is working though and we should continue to do it.

Have you got up to anything inspiring over Easter? I’ve seen a number of people completing marathons or even running the distance between Downpatrick and Dublin in their back gardens! Pearse & Oliver collected a lot of litter lying on the Loughmoney Road when they went out for their daily exercise. A great way of staying active with their mum and dad and also looking after our environment.

Newsdesk today is very interesting, especially if you are in P5, or have already been in Mrs Sealey’s class before. They have WW2 mystery objects and some clues for you to guess them. Chapter 1 of Mr Stink is there too – a great book!

Teachers are busy keeping tabs on you all via Seesaw and we will continue to do this as we move forward. There may be some changes for some classes over the next week, so please keep checking your e-mails and the school app. If you’re having any difficulties, please get in touch. As we get back into some school work we should try and remember the that every family will have different priorities. BBC have an interesting article today and can be found here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-52314856. Worth a wee look.

In the meantime, stay in touch and stay safe.
