Sports Day 2026 – A Fantastic Day of Fun and Team Spirit!

21st May 2026

We were delighted to hold our annual Sports Day at St Patrick's Park, and what a wonderful day it turned out to be! The sun may not have shone, but the bright smiles on the pitch and from everyone watching made up for that.

The children arrived full of enthusiasm and energy, ready to take part in a range of activities organised by Graham from Acti-Sport. From sprints, golf ball and spoon, to fun skill-based challenges, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The tug of war was new to us and became extremely competitive, especially between Mrs McDowell and Mrs Dowdall who you can see in the photos, taking it very seriously - thankfully it ended in a draw!

The children showed great determination and sportsmanship throughout, cheering each other on and celebrating success. The parents' race was as keenly contested as ever - and we wonder why the children get so competitive! As Graham said - making memories for everyone.

The P7s stole the show as they had their Funky Fashion Finale Fun Run - hopefully mums and dads get their clothes back! They are certainly marking their last days in St Patrick's in some style!

It was lovely to see so many parents and guardians in attendance, creating a supportive and encouraging environment for the boys and girls. A special thank you goes to Kellie’s Coffee, which proved very popular with our spectators and added to the friendly, community feel of the day.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the smiles on the children’s faces as they took part in each event. Whether running races, balancing, jumping, or working together in teams, every child gave their best effort and should be very proud of themselves. The photos don't even do them justice.

A sincere thank you to Mr Cunningham and Mr Gordon for all their hard work in setting up the event, and to all of our staff who supported and helped the day run so smoothly.
Thanks to Hamill's Spar for their support as well.
