Sports Day 2018

25th May 2018

We can usually expect the winds to howl and the rain to be no more than a few minutes away whenever we plan Sports Day, but this year was different. The sun shone and we enjoyed the cool breeze that swept over St Patrick's Park.

The children as always rose to the occasion and we had some serious competition, particularly with the sprints when most races finished with joint places as we haven't quite got as far photographing every finish! The highlights among many were the marathon for the older boys and girls and the sack race for the younger ones. The marathon proved to be a real test of stamina and those who set off too quickly suffered the anguish of seeing all their classmates overtake them at the end. The wee ones enjoyed the sack race nearly as much as the mums, dads, teachers and classroom assistants did watching them!

Well done to everyone.

Thanks to St Patrick's GAC for the use of their facilities. Thanks to Mrs Bohill and everyone who helped with the tea and coffee inside and to Mr Halpin who helped out with transporting some of the vital equipment from school to pitch. A massive thanks to the boys and girls who gave the events 100% and in the way they supported their classmates, especially the P6s who really cheered everyone home during the marathon.

Enjoy the mid-term break everyone - you deserve it!
