We celebrated our beginning of year Mass in St Patrick's this morning with Fr Aidan and Deacon Jackie. Primary 6 were in charge and led us impeccably, setting the tone for a lovely service to mark the start of the school year. Fr Aidan told a story about how much he loved Smarties when he was boy. About how he made them last so long and how even though they were many different colours, they were all the same on the inside. Something for us all to think about. He also said that we had lots of wee 'Smarties' in St patrick's and by the end of the year they'd be even smarter!
Thanks to everyone who came along and especially to Sr Maureen who took some time after Mass to chat with the older classes about her work in Johannesburg and Sr Patricia's work in Zambia. We even discovered that she is a far out relative of Joseph and Rosa!

Dear God, our Father up above
We start this year with thanks and love.
At St Patrick’s School we grow and play,
We learn and laugh and work each day.
You brought St Patrick to this place,
To teach our land about Your grace.
Help us, like him, be brave and true,
In all we say and all we do.
We work together, side by side,
We play with joy, and You’re our guide.
We pray together with hopeful hearts,
And each new day brings brand new starts.
Bless our minds to learn and grow,
Bless our hearts Your love to show.
Walk with us the whole year through,
And help us give our best to You.
