1st Jun 2020

Good morning and welcome back.

We now begin the last month of the strangest school year that any of us have ever experienced. Thankfully everyone who works in St Patrick’s is well and we are looking forward to a time when we can see each other in school. The latest information we have received is that all statutory bodies including DE, CCMS, EA, ETI and CCEA are working together on the, 'Education Restart Programme.' This means that guidance will be issued to schools in due course outlining how we will prepare school for a return in the new academic year. First and foremost, will be the safety of children and staff. We will keep you informed as soon as we know what is happening.

Hopefully you enjoyed the lovely weather last week. It certainly felt like summer. As we now begin the last month of learning of this term, we must restart our home routines as best we can. It is certainly more of a challenge to maintain them. As you will know, consistent routines are important for behaviour and wellbeing. You can use our checklist that is available on our website in our Learn@Home section (dated 28th April). Perhaps set a goal for each week as well? Teachers have added plenty of work to Learn@Home so do what you can and what your circumstances allow. Remember to let your teachers see what you’ve been up to on Seesaw. If you’re having any difficulties, contact the school office. Any issues with devices or getting online, please let us know as. Tel. 02844614145

Week 4 of Healthy Kidz Virtual Sports Day and our events are Marathon Challenge and Create your own Obstacle Course. Instructions are on the school website under the Children’s tab.

An extra resource worth looking at is the Autism Centre website. Based in Middletown, they have some excellent information for use with children of all ages. There is a link on Learn@Home. https://www.middletownautism.com/covid19 There's some excellent information on Social Distancing, Doing school work at home, Seeing others wearing masks and Scratch coding.

P4, P5, P6, P7 have been working on Mathletics and a large number have received their first certificates. Well done everyone. P3 should get their log in details this week via Seesaw. We are learning how it works as you complete the assigned tasks, so bear with us please. Some children have not logged in yet and we need them to do so before the end of this week.

Accelerated Reader is still available for the P4-P7 children. While there have been many of you taking quizzes, a number have not and we need you to do so before the end of term. If you’re having issues logging in, use the information on our website to help. You must use the link specific to our school: https://ukhosted6.renlearn.co.uk/2124881/Public/RPM/Login/Login.aspx?srcID=s

Thanks to everyone for your great pictures. Send us a photo please. If you'd like to share pics, please e-mail to: info@stpatrickspssaul.downpatrick.ni.sch.uk

Remember to keep praying for those who are sick or alone and those people who are working so hard to look after them. Pray for everyone who is so busy looking after you and still working to ensure we have everything we need. We are so grateful.

Stay safe.

What do Ninjas eat for lunch?

Kung-food.
