Lecale Cluster Quiz

20th Mar 2026

P7 pupils from across the Lecale cluster of primary schools enjoyed a fantastic morning of fun, friendship, and brain‑teasing questions at this year’s inter‑school quiz, held in Inverbrena Hall, Strangford.

Children from St Joseph’s Strangford, St Joseph’s Killough, St Patrick’s Saul, St Malachy’s Kilclief, and St Mary’s Dunsford all took part. The event was designed to help pupils get to know one another as they prepare for the big step into Year 8 this September.

The hall was quiet to start but was soon buzzing with excitement as the children worked together in mixed-school teams, tackling rounds of general knowledge, puzzles, music, sport, and local facts. There was no shortage of laughter or encouragement, with pupils cheering each other on and making new friends throughout the morning.

The quiz is part of the Lecale cluster’s ongoing work to support a smooth and positive transition for pupils moving from primary to post‑primary school. Teachers commented on how valuable the morning was—not just for the quiz itself, but for the confidence and connections it helped build. The move from being the oldest in their respective schools now, to being the ‘wee ones’ in their new schools can be daunting, but with some sporting events and a transition day planned as well, they will recognize some faces and have new friends already made.

It was a brilliant day filled with questions, craic, and lots of smiling faces. Well done to all of the P7s who took part, and a big thank‑you to everyone who helped organise such an enjoyable event.
