Boys Indoor Gaelic Football 2017

28th Nov 2017

Our boys team made the short trip into the De La Salle High school, Downpatrick for the annual Cumann na mBunscoil indoor qualifiers. Drawn in a tough group with Our Lady & St Patrick's Downpatrick, St Joseph's Crossgar and St Colmcille's Downpatrick, the boys knew they would have to be at their best in every game. A good start against St Colmcille's put them in good form for the next game against Crossgar. Another win and the boys knew that anything but defeat would see them into the playoffs as group winners. OLSP stood in the way and it took some great scores and even better defending to see them off.

A playoff versus St Patrick's Ballynahinch would see the winners qualify for the finals day and both sides were nervous. It was point for point and with seconds left the boys were a single point ahead. A fine score from Ballynahinch sent the game into extra time and both sides still couldn't be separated. It was now next score wins and a fine defensive tackle from the 'Hinch set them up for the winning score as the boys sank to their knees in disappointment. Fine performances all round meant it was going to be harsh on any team that lost. Well done to all of the boys and good luck to St Patrick's Ballynahinch in the finals.
