🎄 Festive Cheer as Saul Dads and Lads Raise £2,500 for our children! 🎄

3rd Dec 2025

We welcomed the Saul Dads and Lads group to school to thank them for raising an amazing £2,500 to provide a dedicated Gaelic Football coach, helping to promote the sport and improve children's skills and teamwork.

To achieve this fantastic result, the group took on the challenge of climbing Slieve Donard, and their efforts were generously supported by many kind individuals and local businesses. We are truly grateful for their commitment and community spirit, which will make a lasting impact on our school. We are so lucky to be part of such a supportive community, as the club had already been funding coaching in our school and now this support means it can continue.

The cheque was presented in the school hall on Tuesday evening and was gratefully accepted by Mr McGrath and some of the children, including Niamh & Elin, Chair and Vice Chair of our school council. As a small gesture of appreciation on behalf of all the children, tea, coffee, mince pies, and sweets were served. It was a wonderful occasion to celebrate the generosity and hard work of everyone involved. Thanks to Pauline, Mrs Cope and Mrs Sealey for organising.

Mr McGrath said, “We are incredibly grateful to the Saul Dads and Lads group for their amazing effort and generosity. Their support will provide fantastic opportunities for our pupils to develop their skills and love for Gaelic games. This is a wonderful example of community spirit in action and while it may take a few years to see the benefits, the foundations for a successful future have certainly been laid.” Eddie Harney, Chairman of the Gaelic Club also thanked the Dads and Lads for their support of St Patrick's and thanked them for the positive effect they have had on the club, just like the G4MO, they have made our club even more inclusive and welcoming to many more from our local community. He also thanked the many sponsors for their generosity, without whom we would not be able to provide anything for our young gaels.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this fantastic initiative and keep an eye on St Patrick's GAC social media and website to keep up with everything that goes on: https://saulgac.gaa.ie/
