18th Jun 2020

Good morning.

Thursday’s here and we’re nearly at the end of our last week of online learning. Yet again, you have all been checking in with your teachers and we have loved the work we have seen this week. Keep reading and you could even get caught up with anything next week.  School reports will be posted tomorrow and you’ll have those soon as well. We sent a link to all families yesterday via the website app, for a Parent-Pupil survey. Please take a few moments to complete. Thanks to those who have already completed. It closes at Midday on Friday.

We will be sending out a message early next week regarding the return of any school books. If you can start gathering any reading or text books that belong to school and place them in a bag with your child’s name and class on it, it will be ready to be left in. We’ll have dates and times soon.

Newsdesk focuses on the return of the Premiership and I’m sure some of you enjoyed the two matches last night. It was very strange having no crowds and recorded crowd noise. Someone also forgot to turn the goal line technology back on in the first game! Lots of sports will be returning soon and they will all be different than how we remember them.

Today is International Picnic Day. Junior Newdesk is a good read and put me in the mood for a wee picnic. What food do you like to have on your picnic?

The Health & Safety Executive for Northern Ireland, “Be aware kids – Child safety on farms,’ competition continues and the theme for this week (Mon 15th - Fri 19th June) is - DANGERS FROM FALLS AND FALLING OBJECTS

Working at height is an ever-present danger on farms - farmers and farm workers of any age run the risk of injury or death from falls.

To enter the competition all children need to do is draw a poster on a plain A3 or A4 page about the Dangers from Falls and Falling Objects.

Parents/Caregivers just need to take a photograph of the completed poster and email to safestart@hseni.gov.uk by Friday 19th June at 4pm. Please remember to include the child's name, age, school and a contact number for the parent/caregiver in the covering email. The winner will be notified next week.

Children of Primary school age can enter with the chance to win a £30 One4all gift voucher.

Children have been working on Mathletics and P2s received their log-in details yesterday. We are learning how it works as you complete the assigned tasks, so bear with us please. Some children have not logged in yet and we need them to do so before the end of this week.

Accelerated Reader is still available for the P4-P7 children. We intend to keep it open as long as possible during the summer. You must use the link specific to our school: https://ukhosted6.renlearn.co.uk/2124881/Public/RPM/Login/Login.aspx?srcID=s

Thanks to everyone for your great pictures. Send us a photo please. If you'd like to share pics, please e-mail to: info@stpatrickspssaul.downpatrick.ni.sch.uk

Remember to keep praying for those who are sick or alone and those people who are working so hard to look after them. Pray for everyone who is so busy looking after you and still working to ensure we have everything we need. We are so grateful.

We are looking forward to our Leaver’s Mass scheduled for Monday 22nd June at 10am. Fr Alexander will celebrate Mass and we can watch via the parish webcam. We hope you can join us at saulandballeeparish.com and click on Webcam. Remember that you can also check in with Fr Alexander for daily Mass at 10am and Sunday Mass at 9:30am.

Stay safe.

Today’s joke:

Why did the Maths book look so sad?

Because it had so many problems!
