Pat Watterson Cup

15th Apr 2019

The annual Pat Watterson Cup competition was a memorable one for the boys gaelic team as they retained it in fine style. Hosted by Pat's old school, St Malachy's Kilclief, it was a fitting occasion to remember Pat. St Jospeh's Ballycruttle, St Joseph's Strangford, St Joseph's Killough, St Mary's Dunsford and the hosts made up the six teams along with ourselves. Our boys defeated Strangford and Dunsford to set up a semi-final against St Malachy's. Another win put them into the final against Strangford, who had learned a lot as the morning developed. In a tight first half the boys just couldn't get going, but in the second half their greater experience shone through and they claimed the cup in style.

Well done lads! Captain Conall Fitzsimons accepted the cup from Pat's son Paul and Mr McGarrity who organised the competition.

Thanks to everyone who came along, to Aodhan's mum and Ronan's granda who helped with transport and to St Malachy's for being such good hosts.
